Eli Junior Kroupi: Should Spurs Go All In?

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been calling out for help in the attacking third, and plenty of them have already picked their ideal target. Eli Junior Kroupi, the 20-year-old Bournemouth striker, has become the name at the top of the wishlist, and it is easy enough to see why. He looks like a serious talent, maybe even one of the best strikers around in a few years if everything clicks. But Bournemouth’s reported £110m valuation tells you everything about how highly they rate him, and that kind of fee would be a massive gamble for any club. So if Spurs are serious about him, the numbers need to show he will be worth the risk.
Kroupi made his breakthrough at Lorient, the club from his hometown, and he did it while still extremely young. He scored his first Ligue 1 goal on September 23, 2023, in a 5-3 loss to Nantes, and became the youngest scorer in Lorient’s history. Not long after that, he became the youngest player to score a Ligue 1 brace since Bernard Zénier back in 1974, doing it at 17 years and 107 days old.
He finished his final season at Lorient with 22 goals, ending up as Ligue 2’s top scorer as he helped guide them back into the top flight. Bournemouth agreed a £10m deal for him on February 3, 2025, though he stayed with Lorient for the rest of the season before moving over in the summer.
That £10m fee has already become one of the biggest bargains this year. In 2025-26, Kroupi scored 13 goals in just 21 starts, breaking Dele Alli’s record of 8 goals in a debut Premier League season by a teenager. On May 19, he scored his 13th league goal of the season, matching the best scoring tally by a teenager in the Prem since Robbie Fowler and Robbie Keane. What stands out most is that he does not just finish chances - he helps build them too. These qualities have analysts and fans alike seeing him as a “9.5”, a striker who can also drop into midfield and link play in the final third. If Bournemouth are asking for £110m, that price alone would put off most clubs. But if Spurs believe he is their long-term No. 9, he is exactly the sort of player fans would get excited about. If Spurs are looking to obtain his signature, they will have to fight off other potential suitors including Manchester City and Barcelona, with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain also showing signs of being in the mix. Only time will tell if gambling on the Frenchman will be worth it, but as it looks right now, it could be an investment that could last Spurs for years to come.
