Pedro Neto: Alternative for Savinho?

Tottenham Hotspur have made their transfer priority clear with just a few weeks to go until the new season begins. The club continues to target reinforcements in the attacking positions, and look for depth amongst the winger position. Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham Hotspur have so far been very aggressive in the transfer market, getting business done fast and early. But the concern over the attack has not faded, and as the season nears closer and closer, fans continue to grow impatient.
A lack of depth in the forward line remains one of the biggest concerns in the squad once again, and a number of names have been repeatedly linked with a move to North London. One of those names is Manchester City winger Savinho, the 22-year-old Brazilian known for his pace and dribbling ability. Spurs have now shown interest for the second consecutive summer, and this time a deal appears far more realistic. City, meanwhile, are already exploring potential replacements should they decide to sell.
One name high on their shortlist is Chelsea winger Pedro Neto. The 26-year-old Portuguese international has become a serious option for Manchester City, having previously worked under current-manager Enzo Maresca. Reports suggest Neto would be open to the move, and a reunion with his former gaffer would be invited.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Neto is not only a target for City in the event that Savinho departs, but also a backup option for Tottenham if they are unable to secure the Brazilian. While he sits lower on Spurs’ shortlist, Neto represents a viable alternative if a deal for Savinho proves too difficult.
Neto has spent the past two seasons at Chelsea, making over 34 appearances in each campaign and starting the majority of matches (78%). Across those two seasons, he registered 9 goals and 12 assists, consistently contributing without quite reaching elite levels of output. His directness, work rate, and physicality have made him a useful asset to the Blues, and those traits would likely suit Roberto De Zerbi and his system well.
However, questions around his end product and consistency have prevented him from being considered among the very top wingers. If Spurs were to turn to Neto, it would still represent a solid addition and provide much-needed depth in the attacking unit. That said, the preference among many supporters remains clear - Savinho is the name they want to see arrive in North London.
